Description
The 74HC85 contains a 4-bit magnitude comparator that
can be expanded to compare a larger number of bits by cascading multiple
74HC85 units together. The 74HC85 compares two 4-bit binary or 4-bit BCD codes and
presents the output as either A>B, A=B or A<B. The 4-bit inputs are
weighted with A3,B3 being the most significant value and A0,B0 being the
least significant. The inputs of the 74HC85 also include clamping diodes
for use with limiting resistors when the input voltages exceed Vcc.
