Silicon Chip September 2010
In this month’s Silicon Chip Electronics Magazine features section, a look at the new LED technology to replace the very common fluorescent lamps. These new LED tubes offer a number of advantages in both energy consumption nad heating. This month’s article takes a look at this technology and compares it other options. Also this month a look at designing and installing a Hearing Loop system for the deaf. For people with hearing impairments, this system will enable them to hear easily from any location in the room, ideal for church services, meetings or concerts, this article looks at the products available and how to set-up this system.
This month’s projects include an exciting new Ultrasonic Anti-Fouling System for boats. Tired of having the scrape away all of the growth on the bottom of your boat, this useful system will prevent the build up of marine growth on the hull of your boat, leading to reduced fuel consumption and improved performance. The project is quite easy to build and can be easily fitted to most small boats. Also this month, following on from the Hearing Loop article, is a Hearing Loop Receiver project. This compact unit, provides excellent sound output with low power consumption for long life. The unit can be easily constructed and includes just two ICs. Finally this month, a high-performance microphone preamplifier project, ideal for recording of sound/speech from a microphone to a computer or connecting to a PA system. All projects come complete with circuit diagram and electronic parts list.
