Silicon Chip October 2015
In this October issue of Silicon Chip Magazine build an Arduino Based
USB Electrocardiogram. This unit is ideal for medical students and fitness professionals.
The unit is built on a standard size Arduino shield and connects to your laptop via a USB cable
to display your own ECG waveforms. The unit features the Analog Devices AD623
Instrumentation Amplifier IC at the front-end to provide high common-mode signal rejection and high
gain, ensuring accurate and reliable readings. The shield together with an Arduino Uno board as the base is
housed in a solid diecast box. The monitoring software and program software is available for free on the
Silicon Chip website and once completed, you will have a professional looking ECG monitoring unit.
Also this month, build the 110W Version of the Ultra-LD Power Amplifer, for those wanting a lower
cost module and do not require the full 200W version, this is a cheaper alternative, whilst retaining the
high-performance specs of the larger unit.
Finally this month, build a 5-Element FM Antenna, ideal for those in remote areas, who want to ensure
they receive the best possible signal for their FM listening pleasure, this 5-element Yagi antenna produces
amazing results.
All projects come complete with circuit diagram and electronic parts list.
