Silicon Chip June 2015

The June 2015 issue of Silicon Chip Magazine is still available, in this month’s issue build the Bad Vibes Infrasound Snooper. This unit allows you to listen to low frequency vibrations by frequency shifting and amplitude modulating the vibrations. This can be used for signals in the 1Hz to 20Hz range and will allow you to listen directly to wind turbines or elephants, crocodiles and other animals that communicate with infrasound. The output volume is proportional to the infrasound amplitude and there is minimal delay between the detection of the sound and audible response. Also this month, build a Audio Signal Injector & Tracer, This tracer is ideal for troubleshooting AM radios and audio circuits. The unit comprises a 1kHz Oscillator with an in-built preamp and amplifier to enable the signals to be traced through the entire amplifier or radio circuit, an optional RF probe can also be built use with RF signals. Finally this month, build the Champion Preamp, this unit can be used as a general purpose stereo preamp or as a dual-channel preamp, with microphone input on one channel and guitar input on the other. The gain be be fixed or adjusted with an optional trimpot. Suitable for Guitar, Microphone, Electret or MP3 inputs. All projects come complete with circuit diagram and electronic parts list.
