Silicon Chip January 2010

In this month’s Silicon Chip Electronics Magazine, we have a look at how the AIS, Automatic Identification System is being used in the Pilbara region off the north coast of Australia. Also this month a very interesting article on how doppler radar is being used to monitor and predict weather conditions. This radar unit provides much greater accuracy than previous radar units, as well as providing much more detailed information.

This month’s projects includes a great new GPS Car Computer, this unit provides a digital speedometer, over-speed alarm, fuel economy meter and a GPS clock. Ideal for older model cars, this kit also indicates the time & distance to your destination as well as current position from the GPS system. Also this month a precision temperature logger and controller, this unit can record and display the temperature over a 12 hour period, ideal for use with greenhouses and temperature recording applications. Also this month, the 3rd part of the WIB project, this month we look at customising the WIB to meet your own requirements and how to set up a FTP session. All projects come complete with circuit diagram and electronic parts list.
