New More Powerful Multi-Message Voice Record and Playback Chip

Designed for easy management and playback of digital voice recordings,

Winbond Electronics has released the world's first single-chip, multi-message, digital ChipCorder series targeted for the automotive, industrial and telecommunications markets. The ISD15000 provide audio grade record/playback, digital compression, integrated analog/digital audio signal paths, built-in, comprehensive memory management including macro scripts, I2S digital audio interface, faster digital recording and higher sampling frequency. These features are especially ideal for designers looking for an easy, cost effective and efficient way of supporting multi-language applications.

More and more content continues to migrate to the digital domain due to ease of use, speed of processing and the ability to quickly and easily share this type of data. Winbond recognized the need for a solution to capture the proliferation of digital data and released its ISD15000 series offering faster programming, address-free recording and simple index based commands for playback, longer duration and audio grade record/playback. Using this IC, designers are able to create a single platform for their applications. Customizations, personalization and multi-language support can then be easily achieved by swapping sound files "on the fly", with minimal time and efforts spent changing the underlying codes and programming.

The ISD15000 is a great extension of the ChipCorder family because it offers the same quality that our customers have come to expect from the existing ChipCorder products while providing enhancements made possible by the digital domain.

Key features of this series include:

  • User-selectable durations from 2 to 32 minutes based on 8kHz/4bit ADPCM
  • Digital audio data with sample rate up to 48kHz via I2S or SPI interface
  • Fast digital recording with data rate up to 1Mbits/second
  • Built-in message management
  • Perform address-free recording
  • Store pre-recorded audio using high quality digital compression
  • Use simple index based commands for playback
  • Execute pre-programmed macro scripts (Voice Macros) for device configuration, message sequence playbacks and recordings
  • Varieties of digital compression algorithm for recordings and playbacks
