This month some interesting real-world examples and articles of working in the electronics industry. Firstly, a light hearted look at working in the tech-support department, some of the common questions and frustrations from being in the front lines. Also the new HID lamps, these portable units are great for camping and offer high-efficieny and brightness. Finally, a look at why calibration of test equiment is important and also how to draw simple circuit diagrams on your computer, using the Protel Autotrax software.
This month’s projects includes a dead-accurate 6-digit GPS Clock, this unit receives the GPS signals to set and update your clock at regular intervals, no need to set and check your clock, it will always be accurate. The unit offers smooth control for the full range of speeds from near zero to full speed. This month also includes a handy unit for checking the accuracy of your digital multimeter, the unit outputs a precision 10.000V output for calibrating and testing your measuring equipment. Finally a UHF remote control mains switch for 230Vac equipment, ideal for use on the farm or in the backyard, the unit can be used to switch pumps or sprinkler systems. All projects come complete with circuit diagram and electronic parts list.
