The April Issue of Silicon Chip Electronics Magazine, features a wealth of interesting articles and projects. This month’s articles, a great introduction to wireless networking with Ubuntu and Puppy Linux. Revive that old laptop and enable wireless networking with this minimal footprint operating system, this is easy to set-up and this step by step introduction is an ideal way to get started. Also this month, the third part of our introduction to Digital Radio, this month we look at the transmitters and receivers for this technology. Finally a look at the new Tektronix Mixed Signal Oscilloscope, this unit has 4 analog and 16 digital inputs, with terrific performance specs.
This month’s projects include a multi-function remote controller lamp dimmer. This unit is very professional and inlcudes five different modes of operation, with ability to dim as well as switch as required. The unit has low power consumption and has nine preset brightness levels, ideal for setting the right mood. The unit uses a standard remote control and is designed for 240V systems. Also this month a handy School Zone Speed Alert, this compact unit will give an audio reminder at the time school zone speed limits are in operation and is a great way to avoid an expensive fine. Also this month a useful USB printer switch and a microcurrent DMM adapter for measuring those very small current values. All projects come complete with circuit diagram and electronic parts list.
