DS89C420 Controller Board
The powerful, high-speed DS89C420 Controller Board, has a pre-installed DS89C420 Dallas Semiconductor Microcontroller, running at 11.0592/22.1184 MHz. The DS89C420 Ultra High-Speed Microcontroller, is the first completely 8051-compatible microcontroller to achieve peak processing speeds of one machine instruction per clock cycle, or 33 MIPS (million instructions per second) at a maximum clock speed of 33 MHz. This new benchmark represents a 33-fold performance gain over the original 8051 design. The DS89C420 microcontroller also includes 16kbytes of on-chip flash memory, which can be programmed in circuit using a standard RS-232 connection. As well as the resident memory within the microcontroller, a further 32 kbytes of RAM is available on the board. Together with a number of ancillary features which enable to board to be used in a wide range of applications.
A real time clock (DS1307) is included to enable real-time control, together with a reset and low battery monitor circuit. Connections are provided to suit graphic or character displays, together with communication via RS232 or RS485. The number of Output ports available has been further expanded to allow a total of 40 points available, together with a number of analog input options. This new microcontroller board will suit the most demanding of embedded applications, where high speed and large memory are required.
